Questioning Authority: The Fight to Preserve a Free Republic and Our Constitutional Rights

Tucker Carlson, the outspoken conservative commentator, is once again under scrutiny from U.S. intelligence agencies, this time the CIA, over his communications related to Iran. The investigation reportedly stems from Carlson's pointed questions about U.S. involvement in the escalating war between Iran and Israel, where American support for Israel has drawn the nation deeper into Middle Eastern conflicts. This mirrors a previous incident where the NSA spied on Carlson's texts with Russian government officials, raising questions about repeated government overreach into private journalistic endeavors.

I strongly disagree with these actions, as they undermine the core principles of a free press in a constitutional republic. Journalists like Carlson should have the right to question conflicts along with foreign policies, and report on daily news events involving the U.S. and other nations, especially when American interests are at stake. Silencing or surveilling reporters who dare to challenge official narratives sets a dangerous record that could restrain public discourse and accountability.

What even gives the CIA and the United States government the right to spy on Americans, especially journalists exercising their First Amendment protections? How does Tucker Carlson know he's being spied on by the CIA—through leaks, whistleblowers, or other means that expose these shadowy operations? How many other American journalists or commentators have had their private texts read by intelligence agencies without ever knowing—and what does that say about the erosion of Fourth Amendment protections for citizens who criticize foreign policy?

We must question everything—relentlessly and without apology—even when the “deep state” goes after you. The time has come for more citizen journalists, independent record-keepers, and everyday Americans to stand boldly in defense of our constitutional rights, refusing to bow to the rogue powers of an unaccountable government that spies on its own people to silence fact. Only through fearless inquiry and vigilance can we reclaim the freedoms that define us as a free republic.
